An amusing video of Irish people trying Guinness for the first time has gone viral

The taste was compared to what a house party smells like.

DESPITE WHAT TOURISTS think, there are a lot of Irish people who can’t bear the thoughts of drinking Guinness. It’s just not for everyone.

The colour puts a lot of people off, as well as the perceived heaviness of the drink.

Most people prefer to stick with what they’ve tried and trusted, rather than wasting a fiver on a pint they won’t finish. Plus, the vague memory of the sip of Guinness one of your grandparents gave you at your communion tells you to stick to spirits or beer.

So the Facts Channel on YouTube, a group of Irish people who try new things every week, decided to show the rest of the world how Irish people react to actually drinking Guinness for the first time. They also try out loads of variations of the drink, which is also fairly interesting.

As everyone who insists “Ah, it grows on you” would expect, they weren’t completely mad into it.

They begin with their first pint – original Guinness. This GIF, presented without comment, says it all.

Apart from sheer disgust, their first pint of Guinness got “It’s actually grand” and “It’s good… It’s not amazing but it’s not awful.”

Next they tried Guinness from a can.

This one was compared to the taste of a cigarette butt and a house party. Not the most appealing review, but they all agreed it was slightly better than the pint.

Then they tried Guinness Porter, which got glowing reviews.

“That’s not bad at all!”, “That’s nicer, I like that” and “That’s really nice!” was spectrum of response that the Porter received. They seemed like they’d try it again, despite the fact that it “definitely makes a lady burp.”

Next up was Guinness West Indies Porter.

“Everything’s going fine and then there’s a moment where I’m like, oh Jesus. That’s disgusting.”

They go on to try Guinness Rye Pale Ale and Golden Ale.

Their final verdict? They urgently needed to brush their teeth, but they also think that there are “better things to take from Ireland.” Fair enough, bearing in mind Ireland is responsible for Sudocrem.
